Allowing
Yourself Space
Look
ahead and know what is ahead of the vehicle
in front of you.
Four
out of ten accidents involve rear-end collisions.
This
usually occurs because someone was following
too closely (tailgating)
Allowing
yourself space can be accomplished by applying
the
"two
second rule."
Pick an
object like a road sign or overpass.
As the
vehicle in front of you passes the object begin
counting "one, one thousand one, one one thousand
two"
If you
reach the object before you finish counting, you
are following too closely.
In bad
weather increase your count to 3 or 4 seconds.
