A good way to start is to find a LARGE empty parking lot. This shouldn't be to hard on a Sunday afternoon.

Start out by simply starting from a stop, and then stopping. You are getting the feel of the the pedals.

Remember to always fasten you seatbelt, check your seat position, check your mirrors, then start the car. Always turn off the car when switching drivers. Always carry your learners permit with you when driving.

Make sure your parent has a license with them also.

Plan on spending about an hour just driving the car on the lot to get the feel of it. Practice checking your mirrors when moving and judging distance.
