The Online Study Guide for Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Students

The Commercial Drivers License (CDL)

This site can help you understand and meet the driver licensing requirements and standards needed to pass the written exam, and prepare for the driving skills test.

BUT!

You must obtain a manual from your state and study. Some states have download manuals available. For a list of states with DMV sites click here and then select your state of residence.

Use your manual with this site to assist you.

You may or may not be able to pass the necessary tests by using this site alone, but we do not "teach to the test", we are simply trying to make the information easier to digest.

Teaching to the test is unfair to you as well as the millions of drivers you will be sharing the road with.

A Commercial Driver is a Professional!

You as a "Professional Driver" are required to know this material as well as any updates and changes in the law.

We will do our best to keep up with the changing rules and regulations, but when in doubt the manual is what you must go by.

Most drivers will not need to study the entire manual.

Section one and three are for all CDL students.

All CDL applicants need to study all sections in part one.

Section two applies to the vehicle type the student will be driving..

Only study the sections in this part that apply to the vehicles you drive.

Section three applies to the road skills test.

All CDL applicants need to study all sections in part three.

The sections you need to know, depend on the Class of License you need.

The class of the license depends on the type of vehicle you will be driving.

To help you avoid the confusion we have made it a little easier for you. Answer the questions from the link below and you will be taken to an index of the sections required specifically for you.

Bookmark that page as you will probably be returning several times.

"Class A", Class"B", and Class "C" also Class "C" for passenger transport.

If you already know which class you require, click on"Class A", Class"B", and Class "C" also Class "C" for passenger transport. If not, continue to the link below.
