Backing is very dangerous because of the high volume of pedestrians
walking behind and beside buses.Due to this extra hazard bus drivers
should avoid backing whenever possible.
When backing a bus take extra precautions.
First check backing area.
Turn on four-way flashers.
Use another person to help you back safely
when possible.
Check mirrors.
Use your horn and warning devices to
warn others you are backing.
Back very slowly and no further than
absolutely necessary.
